One Eye Open
Darkness begins to fall,
Over the land,
Of hopes and dreams.
All the peace in the world,
Shattered by the unknown,
Yet broken only by the wonders,
Of the lost lovers of the world.
I watch the sky,
As it turns from Blue,
To red, Red turns slowly to black,
From my window that has become my prison.
Although only the continent stands between us,
Each day makes the distance feel,
Like bing on Venus,
While your stuck on Mars.
Each night,
With tears flowing from my eyes,
Like an April rain shower,
I pray for just one thing.
That when I awake,
When dawn breaks in the morn,
That there you'll be,
Tangle in the sheets with me.
So I fall asleep,
I keep one eye open,
So that I can see you,
When you return,
From Venus,
To stay with me,
Here on Mars...
