The Tally of My Tales; The Story of My Life

Contributed by baronhawk on Friday, 26th March 2004 @ 09:25:48 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I was a babe
then a child
later a boy
and now a man

twenty seven years
have I seen post hence

and yet in summation
in the accounting of my life

I have not but a thing
no markers of my path

I have lived the days
savored the nights
walked the miles
and stood the years

but what a waste
for I have not
left any traces
in the tally of my tales

no place to call a home
no lady to call a wife
no children to call my own
no career to rant and rave
no friends to laugh in turn
no dreams to carry on
no pictures of places I've known
no stories of things I've done
no deeds dismal or great
no proof of that I am

twenty seven years
have come and gone

what of the time
that I have left

at the crossroads
am I now
where should I go
what more to do

should I scurry
back into line
living the life
of mundane means

even though its the same
as was before
with results
in the likeness of yesteryears

or should I strive
to break the mold
to pursue this dream
that I still hold

to risk all
and give the rest
to stand tall
and be the best

or perhaps to shun
this wicked world
to sever all ties
and break all oaths

why should I give
and give and give
when all I get
is less and less

but the last of choices
the breakings of faiths
is to welcome oblivion
drowning in its touch

to sleep the sleep of sleeps
to lay down this mantle of years
to slumber in endless deeps
to slit this vein of tears

at a crossroads am I
after twenty seven
long long years
where should I go
what more to do
with the tally of my years.

This is a masterpiece filled with depth, emotion, ponderings and reflection. The crossroads is a tough place to be. What to do? Sometimes things are within our grasp even when we don't believe they are and other times the things we want aren't even at the crossroads. I liked this one alot because it was open, honest and it really touched my heart. Maybe your heart is beginning to heal? Oui? Non? Monsieur Baronhawk? Kie

Go into your heart and find what you really truly want to do. What will gratify you, not society, not anyone else, but you and go for it. Life is a short road and "no" there is not always a silver-lining to those clouds but you might as well enjoy the rest of the trip on your terms. Good luck in finding what you want.

And so at last BaronHawk,
You soar, and dive, questions to stay alive.
Never look back and wonder where you have been, for living your life backwards, you will stumble from grace. Life is constant challenge, like the runner of life....if he looks back over his shoulder, he will stumble and fall to his death.
Talented pen, courage, tenacity, determination, character, look within, mundane to the world and others standards, Baronhawk....that's why you are a hawk...you were given wings, only to land when need be. Nourish your body, or rest....you will know,
Baronhawks put to the test, always know....yours may be a life without rest! Material things mold, and rust. Why store them up? Your pen will continue to write even when old! Take your pick? What will be your legacy.....a house, car, things? Or your hearts delight? I think you know.....Hawks always know which way to take flight!!!
love,
consue

A masterful write. Twenty seven years - you have only just begun your journey - don't give up yet. The struggle to find a path that is fulfilling both spiritually and financially is no easy task., yet the journey in and of itself is to be savored. Comtemplating life is the poets realm, to raise questions and seek answers with well chosen words. I enjoyed reading your work.
