The Exquisite Kinship

Contributed by Zaf_Stud on Friday, 26th March 2004 @ 03:50:54 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

Every pupil of mine is as requisite as sunshine,
backing brightness and keeping it fine,
in the dreamlike world of mine,
like birds, like flowers; they flock, they combine.

They are literature to my world,
a daughter being diction, a son being a word,
their keenness, their acuity boost my assiduity,
I am made never say no, I am urged never to resign.

But I come across a fear, that time is drawing near,
have to say I words of valediction, not sooner if than later,
as a nestling is bid farewell, when grown when can fly well,
have I ultimately to obstruct, I know I have to divine.

Let us not be despondent or get glum either; come what may,
matters not if descends the final curtain or forsake we each other nay,
fear not this ephemeral affliction, care not the growing apprehension,
meet again we shall to abandon never, dare only to tread a thin line.

I came here for more after today's post and discovered this posted on my son's birthday last year. You must be a terrific teacher. I taught once long ago and know what it is to feel this about my students.
