The Deep Blue Depression

Curled up like a withered leaf
His life is dry and drained from the harsh sun
Soaked with pain from his violent life.
Still as a stone, he laid at the bottom of society
At the bottom of the deep blue depression
The incoming tide splashes him
Upon the heartless and pitiless rocks
Then withdraws him back to where he came from
Back into the deep blue depression
Underwater, fish swim happily pass him
Living on with their lives
He swims with them as if he were one
Ignoring those who were frightened by him
He then swims to the surface
To catch a breath of relief
For he wasn’t born to live
In the deep blue depression
Winter falls like a bullet-struck bear
Hard and heavy, cold and lifeless
The deep blue depression freezes
And he is still
Frozen and stuck
In it’s breath-taking chill
Spring swifts across the land like a strong sea breeze
Birds fly high
Fish swim fast
Rushing off somewhere
And complaining about the scarcity of food
But he watches them with envy
Through soaring salty eyes
Wishing he could have what they don’t want
Summer crashes in like a fallen tree on fire
On sweltering nights, he floats above the surface
Above the deep blue depression
Staring at the stars pinned in the ebony cloth
Thinking of the impossible
Thinking of his dreams
They’re so lost and distant like the stars
But they seem so bright
That he can’t help but look
Autumn crawls in like a hungry dog
The cold wind whimpers
As he begins to cry
Nothing to live for
Nothing to die for
In the bottom of the deep blue depression
He’s curled up like a withered leaf
His life is dry and drained from the harsh sun
Soaked with pain from his life
In the deep blue depression

Sensitive and sad to write and more so for those who read. I know the subject quite well and have myself written a story on it. "In The Face Of Hunger" Some subjects need to be wrote about and read.... you've expressed it so well.

| Compelling read. Very descriptive. I liked "He laid at the bottom of society" and "Wishing he could have what they don't want", very intense descriptions. I look forward to reading more of your posts. |

| A very intense poem, but it is so true. You expressed very well what you wanted to say. A very sad poem , yet it awakens my soul to do something for the poor. Thank you for the write. You are a wonderful writer. |
