Love In The Fire Of Darkness Part Three

Contributed by solmyr1404 on Thursday, 25th March 2004 @ 11:40:00 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

I look around me,
But I see nothing.
The burning sensation intensifies,
But there is nothing
To burn me.
I withhold the desire
To claw frantically
At my body,
Because it would do no good.
I blink;
I see her sweet face
So close I can almost touch it.
I wonder,
Can I be dead?
No, I'm still breathing.
Does "the girl" know that I love her,
Does she remember?
Inky blackness still surrounds me,
Her face is gone.
The darkness is crushing me,
Smothering me.
I hear something behind me;
Footsteps,
Breathing,
Her voice.
My heart leaps with joy
When I hear her voice say my name,
But that joy does not last.
A dim light lights up beneath her feet,
Barely illuminating us enough
To see each others faces.
"Baby, I love you," I start to say,
But with a stern look she locks the words away inside my heart.
Oh, God, it's in her hands.
No wonder I smell blood,
It's mine.
Somehow my heart continues beating
In the palm of her hand.
"I always knew that you loved me," she says,
"That's why I stole this, so you'd never stop."
She walks up and kisses my cheek.
In a quick movement, I return the kiss.
She steps back and regards me cooly.
"That was nice," she says,
"But now I'm done with you.
But I can't just put this back," she says motioning to my heart,
"It isn't that easy."
With that she begins to squeeze...
