SPOUSAL ABUSE
When the sun doesn’t rise for morning light,
And rain and gloom fill the night.
A desperate feeling stirs within,
And patience runs very thin.
Self-control begins to slide,
And aggression no longer hides.
Innocent ones take the toll,
From a person out of control.
A push, a punch, a heart of fear,
A bruise, a cut, an eye of tears.
A feeling of guilt runs both ways,
But who’s at fault, no one will say.
He’ll never leave, and nor will she,
It’s the only way she knows it to be.
So it continues without alarm,
Till one too many, her life is gone.
