There are no stars shining brightly in the night sky tonight
For I am the old woman... what am I to do?
Just sitting here in my rocking chair crying and feeling blue
Feeling the pain and sorrows of all my years
For I am the old woman... crying these lonely tears
Bringing back the memories of the good old days
They are just faded memories dusted with age
The rain beats down upon tin roof of my rambled old shack
As my heart beats slowly to the tune of "Amazing Grace"
I lay myself down to sleep on the old feather bed
As the darkness surrounds my gray and silver head
Transforming into a halo of sparkling gold
My years of suffering are finally over
I'm on my way back home...
For I am the old woman... the Lord above sent the angels to beckon
The Golden Stairs lie at my feet to climb high above God's creation
Though my loved ones may mourn... in their heart of hearts they know...
I am the old woman... in Heaven with the Lord

You know, it's funny how this was written after high school, and yet, it captures old age so nicely. I like this... and they say that youth don't understand....
