Love=Gratitude

Contributed by dAWn on Thursday, 25th March 2004 @ 09:03:53 AM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

I saw her face
I fell from grace

It felt like dying
This sweet euthanasia she gave me
Now my heart sickly rottens
Please redeem me

Are these tears?
When you told me you’ll go away
Supplying me with new fears
Like being afraid of losing you

Your happiness is contagious
I should be put into quarantine
And although I know there’ll never be ‘us’
Forever I am thine

You brought life, you brought death to numb
What miracles can a simple ‘I like you’ do
Stood there, smiling, looked maybe a little dumb
But what is important – you smiled too

We grew into good friends
Maybe less that I would’ve wanted
I don’t want to sound greedy
Thank you for not taking me for granted

Yesterday I almost told you
You almost exposed my soul
My little/big secret, not sure if you’d like it
So I’m still hiding like a mole

Sure, someday I’ll tell you
When we’re fully grown up
I’m glad I know you
I’m glad....a lot...

I feel the same way, actually. Same crush, eleven years; the feeling of being right beside someone, yet yearning to be closer, seeing them 4 inches away, but in heart 7 worlds apart. This makes me feel the same way, and that in itself is an accomplishment deserving of praise.

Compellingly done.

Stumbled over this one. I see 'Lyre appreciates this poem far more than I can, but I like its bittersweet message . . .
Welcome to the YPDC.
Keep posting.
