To the Moon - A Werewolf's Prayer

Contributed by Hurretje on Thursday, 25th March 2004 @ 07:15:28 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

All the lights are out
I drift without direction
I turn and tumble
Into the depth of the sea
Into the void of my mind

Can you guide me through the night?
Can you guide me, baby?
Will you lead me to the light?
Will you lead me, baby?

All my senses are put out
I head to nowhere
I shatter and fracture all
Who are in my way
That is in my course

Can you guide me through the abyss
Darker than a tomb by night?
Will you lead me to redemption
Quicker than a ray of light?

These flashing comets
That evaporate my mind
With stroking violence
They invade me, kiss me, hate me
More and more, till all is white

Can you guide me through the fire?
Can you guide me, baby?
Will you lead me to desire?
Will you lead me, baby?

Your blood's rushing through my veins
With utter passion
Fire extinguishes my soul
Until all is lost
In silent ashes

Can you guide me through the flames
Hotter than my heart on fire?
Will you lead me out of hell
Outrun my strange desire?

Where is the Sun?
Merciful Goddess!
She's lost - Divine portress
In the desert of my dying spirit
I cry
She fades
I can't recall
Her face

Where is the Sun?
Sheltering fortress!
The Moon - Evil temptress
Stained memory in my lost soul
I howl
She blinds
I can't endure
Her face

Let me lead you to the fire
Of this never quenched desire
Let me bring you to the light
Of the Goddess of the night

Hail Moon!
Hail Moon!

I don't know what type of a critic you expect now, so don't take me very seriously (just a rookie, just signed up today)...

Very dark with that certain 'spark'.

*nods*...
I like.
I certainly do...mhm

I only comment on poems I really like so please take my critique as a compliment. I love the beginning and end of this poem. Awesome images, very powerful. The stanzas where you pose questions to the reader and especially where you refer to the reader as baby are a little distracting. Maybe this is meant to be a song and heard sung may have a very different effect. But reading it, I found those elements distracting from the pace and run of the poem. Great stuff though. So good it deserves to be even better. Some poems aren't worth the effort. This one is.
