Prayer Becomes Us

Contributed by jesse on Thursday, 19th September 2002 @ 06:25:02 AM in AEST
Topic: AmericanTragedy

The year was 2001 as we all stood still and stunned
People working, going to school, not believeing what they had done
Quicker than we knew it, the news were filled in hours
People were running for their lives and screaming,"They crashed into our twin towers
Flames roared higher, burning into the air
Everyone watched their tv's yet all could only stare
As the towers collapsed into nothing but piles of rubble
The faith and prayer amoung us all seemed in seconds to double
The frightning cloud of dust that killed so many that day
Made many drop and cry while others looked up and began to pray
Waiting and believing their friends and loved ones would certainly survive
With guardian angels by their sides, although many lost their lives
Running around crying and screaming yelling out,"Why us"
Many children lost their parents in that big cloud of dust
Although they attempted to break our nation down
They have not and wont suceed
I don't understand what they were thinking
Many people died while others begged and pleed
New York and D.C. may have some to repair
But under gods strength and faith we have not any care
We are a united nation. we will easily win this fight
No matter what they do in despite we will knock them out of sight
Freedom and peace we are
Red, white, and blue we stand, the eagle will soar over us far
God stands next to us until the end
It may have been a tragic day, but thats all you'll ever get
Nothing can break us down or apart
This is far from over yet.

It was a terrible day for everyone, lest not we forget.
A beautiful write.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
