What, oh what
Can true love be?
For it shackles while
It sets me free
The fullest joy
The deepest pain
What is love?
I ask again
Many a war
For love was fought
Too many have died
When love forgot
Yet many men
By love were saved
‘Twas a girl who saved them
From the grave
Love can become
Stronger than all
When to his fullest
Man follows her call
Too many times
Love has died out
When watered not
The seed won’t sprout
Love must be watered
From the start
Then it will blossom
Within the heart
Watched over with
The utmost care
Love will guide you
Anywhere
Just trust in her
With all your heart
Believe in love
And never part
And never, never
Forget love
For it’s a taste
Of heav’n above
