Molten magma spews and bubbles
Seas of fire line the devils home
Lava splutters, spits and bursts
Eruptions fill this hell unknown
But upwards must we go
Glowing embers and flickering flames
Dancing shadows parade his cavern
Stalagmites and stalactites
Like needles in this Satan’s tavern
But upwards must we go
Rock still steaming from heat below
Fissures sigh relief of pain
Earth’s layers red and rusty brown
Seek the light but years in vain
But upwards must we go
Inky blues as dark as night
These depths that life will never hold
Ripples swell, and surge and crash
Foaming surf laps at gold
But upwards must we go
Luscious pastures greet the eyes
Waves of green cascade the hills
Oak stands proud, surveys this land
Mother nature provides at will
But upwards must we go
Concrete grey announces ownership
Dull drones wander lost in herd
Polluted chokes splutter endless misery
Colourless routine drains life of word
But upwards must we go
Looking down upon the grey-stained rainbow
Horizons of blue stretch beyond life’s ceiling
Free and weightless, soaring swoops
Gusts and breezes whoosh with feeling
But upwards must we go
Marshmallow fluffs float like pillows
Inviting, offering rest well deserved
Fresh peace the tired voyagers prize
This bed has been forever reserved

Wow a fantastic poem, I saw the colors I felt the struggle.
One of the best writes I've seen in a while.
Thanks. |
