Mirror Image

Contributed by blueheart on Tuesday, 23rd March 2004 @ 09:11:36 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

This mirrored image stands before me,
Thoughts developing from what I see,
This soul I inspect with scrutiny.

I am the star, the sky has left behind,
I am the presence that lingers on your mind,
These words I speak are spoken like a mime,
I am the wounds that barely heal with time,
I am an uncut diamond waiting to shine.

I am the imperfection all plated in gold,
I am the solace battering your soul,
I am the vulnerability that never grows old,
I am but a corpse, so lifeless and cold,
I am the flaw keeping you whole.

I am the innocence that left as it came,
I am the voice ensuring you're sane,
I am the chance you missed yet again,
I am stardust that sweeps away from fame,
I am deep gashes leaving you in pain.

I am the beauty you will never see,
I am myself and that has set me free.

Wow. That was amazing, to say the least. I've always loved the concept of the mirror being able to reflect us in so many ways other than physically. Well done.

An ode to self reflection, a stark stark poem. Very insightful but rather ghastly sad in essence. But in the end..oh joy! the tenure of self acceptance..the passport to freedom and th ekeys to greater things...Nice write indeed refreshingly human.
