What makes a good father?
Two shiny wheels for Christmas…become four, become what?
Whatever is needed, or desired, or demanded!
Given without thought or effort
But what is wanted?
What will soothe the hate?
No gift-wrap on a phone call
Nor ribbon on a hug
His voice alone will raise the corners of a down turned mouth
His hand on my shoulder will reassure all doubts
What will bring a tear to my eye?
Three words never uttered
But always known
