Nostalgic

He knew the world from head to toe
And drank the sunlight noon
His whispers with the wind did go
A duet with the moon
He followed clouds throughout the winds
Where feathered ice untame blows
On grassy knees and seconds pinned
His tongue could catch the rain's bows
He shared his smile with butterflies
And spoke roses’ perfume
His eyes competed with the skies
His laughter in full bloom
His feet could take him ‘cross the world
And thoughts could sail the sea
A book in bed with stories curled
“The Princess and the Pea”
He thought adults were bigger kids
Until McDonald’s banned him
His years too tall beyond the lid
And logic seduced whim
The books would never seem to end
A drowning sea of words
And numbers lurked around each bend
“Why cut each pie in thirds?”
Doors became his prison cell
And books usurped his glee
Algebra defeated him
The princess lost her pea
He dreamed to stroll the skies again
And splash rivers beyond where pain goes
But his eyes closed in hope, there the dying begins
—he’d forgotten the taste of rainbows—

This is beautiful. Rainbows are my favorite things. I have them daily in my life. Skittles too by the way.

I know I've commented once before but I just had to read it again because you just have to know how good it is... I miss the taste of rainbows. And I love the very very last line. *sigh*
