One Miss= One Regret

Contributed by cherangele on Tuesday, 23rd March 2004 @ 06:49:09 AM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

I remember the first time we met.
Our eyes brushed across each other’s,
Yet, unwilling to make contact,
For we were young, shy in nature’s roots,
That rather hid and slept in dark, murky soil
Than to spring into life and see the light.

We wasted our time, guessing each other,
Does he love me? Or does he love me not?
Each rose petal that fell one by one,
Piled to one splendid mountain
That gave host to our thousand doubts.

We feared of rejection, hence playing hide n seek,
You tried to find me, I tried to run,
I tried to hold you, you tried to go.
Breathlessly, in this little game we played,
My resolution to be chased and your
Determination to remain there,
Until when fortune says-
“Time’s up, lets’ pack up and go home.”

Now I can utter nothing but bitter, sweet whispers,
While pondering upon your smile that once lit my life.
If time would revolve back to the first day we met,
That pair of eyes would bond with yours,
Those worthless pursues- once but enough,
The roses meant to be for me from you,
And we would hold our hands and say-
“Even we part, we will not regret,
For the match has been well made.”
