I give you life, you give me grief
I give you love, you give me "I hate you."
Why is it that parents and children
Seem to travel the road of dissension?
Are we born this way, or do we learn it?
And if so, from whom?
I ask you to pick up your clothes, I do it later
I ask you to do the dishes, I do it later
I ask for help, I do it by myself
It seems you have all the advantages
I have all the grief
I crave your approval
As much as you crave mine
I need to hear, "Great job" or
"Nice dinner", or just "I love you, Mom."
Can I have it? It seems not
Do I need it? Oh, yes!!
As much as you do

Do tell. I have found it very true. However, I did not treat my mom this way. And she would have told you that. Oh, well. At least two of them have grown up and become responsible. There is hope. LOL |
