Grief

Once again I turn the corner, after so many years. Past the spot where my suede shoes scuffed the rough pavement. Where he and I once made a memory I remember so well. We shared ice cream in the warm sweet-scented dusk of the park. This is where Cupid’s arrow struck us. Here’s the tree, with out names carved and entwined inside a heart. Here’s the bench where we kissed under a crescent moon. And now it is the place I lay down my bouquet, a token of my grief. The place I acknowledge the loss of my rose petal boy. Once again I turn the corner under my crescent moon, wiping a tear from my cheek.
