Reality
You'll never see the ending
You live in the beginning
A beginning has an ending
Nothing changes through the ages
You're stuck in the past situations
Nothing in your world ever changes
You're forgotten with the memories
Never able to regain the present
We live in the world unfit to live in
You think you have it all
Well you don't first of all
You'll be the first to fall
To stumble, to crawl
It's all your fault
That you have flawed
In the end you might see
Everything isn't as it seems
Think twice before you sleep
Dreams take you far away
To the world that's not to be
You get lost out of reality
Thinking unbelievably
You're never going to be
Able to believe the truth of things
Wake up and return to reality
Open your eyes to the light
Reality slowly takes
The dreams, they fade
Reality slowly takes
Life away from thee
Never give up your dreams
But think twice about sleeping
Dreams take your being
Live in reality and not in fantasy
Life slowly fades into dreams
Reality is the only thing that stays
It's the ending of the dream

Hmmm....well, in my perusing of ypdc tonight I thought I'd take a look-see at what I could possibly find on your page to comment on...and this one had like one comment so I thought I'd make it two.
...So. You had a very different voice in your old poems, didn't you? The structure, the form...a lot different than your more recent stuff. What I liked about this were the ideas in it. In comparison to your later poems though, this one seems a little unpolished, like when you're waiting on a Growing Gift on Facebook and you see the little bud growing, but it's not fully grown yet, y'know?
While it's not something I normally condone, I think this might be one of those poems that would benefit from a second look and even a rewrite. I mean...the ideas here, if you were to look at them again, might be interesting to explore now. But that's just my opinion...(and something I'd never personally do myself)...so...yeah. |
