You talk on the phone
Or read type-written words
Making false connections
It's just plain absurd
The voice sounds nice
The words read well
You arrange to meet
And it all goes to hell
Why didn’t he say
He was four foot five
With a triple chin
And hair like a beehive
Why didn't she say
She was a size twenty-two
Barely fitting inside
Your new Subaru
High hopes fall
Mounts of frustration piles
You should have stayed home
And watched the X-Files
Who ever said
Being single was great?
When you have to succumb
To blind date after date
