You’re not what I expected
But worth all of my time
Certainly not what I imagined
But still, you inspired me to write this rhyme

I had fun the times we spent together
And saddened when we had to part
Surprised that you were “in” to me
And I wanted to write this work of art

Sorry things didn’t work out
But maybe we could talk it through
Explain what went wrong after things ended
I still want to get to know you

Some reason I figured that you’re glad I’m gone
Away from you and out of your way
I’m probably not what you expected
But I wish you would have stayed
