I said good-bye
to people
who I thought might care.
They tried to tell me
not to.
But it only added to the
confusion in my mind.
In my head,
I heard many voices.
I heard my friend
crying and pleading,
my love saying
it wouldn’t be different
than all the others.
All the voices rung
in my ears.
Added to the confusion
were voices of my own saying
“Don’t do it! There’s more
to life than this!”
And others say,
“I have to do this! There’s no
other way!”
I tried to kill myself to
make them all shut up.
But I forgot how
dumb I was.
I can never do anything right.
I can’t even die.
I cut and cut
until there was nowhere
left to cut.
My wrists just wouldn’t bleed.
I’m sorry, world,
I tried.
I tried to set you free
of me.
But I guess I’m just too stupid.
Please, forgive me...
