The Me Beyond The Mirror Within Myself

Topic: toughstuff

This is me inside.
Just turn it out and you’ll see her
Look into her and you’ll find me
My mortal soul in shape is she

She is strong and broken
She is so afraid
Her thoughts are swirled inside
Much like a tumor to her brain
She is beautiful
But no one sees
You look at her
Yet you find me

She is the me beyond the mirror
She’s all the things I long to be
And all the things I’ve been
Our pain is shared
And magnified
She’s her
I’m I
We’re we

She loves too much
She gives her all
She’s empty
But she’s pure

We’re walking through the rain tonight
We’re strolling hand in hand
The thoughts and dreams will live today
Arising with the dawn

She rarely speaks
I always coax
But forced by me she lies
Together suffering through time
We’ll never be apart
Of only that, we’re sure

Her beauty cannot shine past me
Yet we all know its there
We’ll sleep sometime to mask the pain
It worsens all our woes
It helps to shove the hurt away
To lock it up and eat the key
To keep it deep inside
In time it comes around and out
And that is when we cry

To be so close and love so much
It frees her thoughts to him
Whoever he is
Where he’s at
We’ll love him for all time
And he’ll see her
And not just me
For once we’ll be combined
We’ve always been together
Yet shut behind closed doors
He’ll open them and US he’ll see
Not one
But two
Set free

And finally when we’re there with him
He’ll wipe away the tears
When we’re afraid
He’ll hold us tighter
Closer to his heart
Forever we’ll be safe for once
I’ll get to set her free
She’ll free me too
In summer rain
Relinquished and carefree
We’ll dance beneath a full blue moon
A harvest moon and stars

Reality swipes back the love
The laughter disappears
For in the present
Here and now
We’re empty and alone
We’re paralyzed with fright of this
We yearn for shorter years

We’re reassured by all those things
But scared that they’ll be gone
Terrified are we of death
Too soon
Too quick
Too close
So here we’ll stay
Until time comes
Or if it never does
We’ll walk alone
Hand in hand
Blind and petrified
We’ll stay for all we know today
For everything we’ve seen
We’ll stay for everything that is
We’ll wait for what will be
And all that there ever was.

I loved this one! You expressed yourself beautifully here. I can tell that you're on the death watch in the 'Poetic Ilness'. Die everything else, and live ffor poetry.
Take care, my poet friend.

Very touching, Chelsea. Amazing! Such internal conflict, yet such peace due to love. Amazing is love's healing power. Beautifully done. Never cease to hope!
