Stardust

Contributed by Eve on Wednesday, 17th March 2004 @ 10:55:10 PM in AEST
Topic: insomniac

Sitting on a windowpane
Already forgotten it's all the same.
But what would be given to find
That it's an illusion of the mind?

The stars glitter endlessly up there
Somehow finding the light to share.
They take forever to make their way here
And still feel to me like they're near.

Wish I could touch one
Just to wipe away the sun.
Wonder if they'll remember me
When I'm but a faded memory.

All or nothing one and the same
To the echoes of the sun's flame.
Andromeda's two million lightyears away
Other side of the world takes it for the day.

And Cygnus haunts my vision and dreams
Azelfafage and Gienah beating to reach me.
The black hole within it swallows my mind
Deneb brushes my eyes and I feel blind.

Lacerta is winding around somewhere near
The whiteness of Lyra invokes a respectful fear.
Draco the Dragon blows starry flame my way
But seeing Corona Borealis gives me reason to stay.

The well known Boötes stalks always close
Though Ursa Major is what I see most.
Leo and Virgo constantly stay near Cancer
In my dreams they swirl like some kind of dancers.

Polaris shines at the end of the Little Dipper
Aquila glows east of Delphinus' flipper.
Orion demands my attention with his proud stance
Taurus off not too far of a distance.

Aries the ram butts into me not long after then
My focus directs from it to the light Pisces sends.
Pegusus waits just beyond the Fishes
Only that constellation could know my wishes.

It brings me to think when I used to wish on stars
When I did, I never dreamed that it had to go so far.
Stardust in my eyes, I'm back at the windowpane
Gone for tonight but until tomorrow they'll be in my brain.

Ah, Eve, this was sooo worth the wait! Beautiful portrayal of stars, space, and all things cosmic. I tried for this in "Facade of Space," but didn't quite hit the mark like you did. So now it is I who is envious of your talent.

Truly,
-V.S.
