ANOTHER PLACE

Contributed by Lionel on Wednesday, 17th March 2004 @ 02:15:03 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

The tiger paces; head hung low,
staring sadly, with piercing eyes.
We were born to captivity,
- he and I.
What the uncaged knows, we know,
the deep jungle bush, under starry skies.
The life we've been denied,
-he and I.

Regret and longing etched in his face,
he looks my way, not really seeing.
We're held in cruel solitude,
-he and I.
In anguish,we desire another place,
freedom- nature's essence of being:
waiting, seething, grieving,
-he and I.

Keep pacing, friend with woeful cries,
you may never, your dream, realize.
In this way, we're differant,
-you and I.
We don't have the same strength and size.
My bars I shall break with trumpeting cries,
and escape this prison for,
-you and I.

destroys much of zoo- is shot dead.

Lionel, Isn't God's inspiration wonderful? I could relate to this completely. Good stuff!

Lionel, I love how your compared yourself to the caged tiger.

But my favorite verses would have to be the last 4:

We don't have the same strength and size.
My bars I shall break with trumpeting cries,
and escape this prison for,
-you and I.

Excellent!
Yvonne

Interesting how you could relate to a caged tiger considering the fact that you are not one yourself. Interesting how you can somehow just know how a tiger feels. I have to wonder how you came up with this poem.
