My Spring of Tears

Contributed by twinkletoes on Wednesday, 17th March 2004 @ 01:02:02 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I am sitting on this creek bank hidden by a canopy
of a lush and heavy rainforest
dimming sunlight
of the day.

The deep and darkened waters of a rock pool cool inviting
are being fed from above by a spring
falling gaily as
if to play.

Etching forming hidden gutters and cravasses deep a-plenty,
this spring has made its mark forever
upon the hardened
lime.

The half-lit hue is heavy with the sound of running water
as day-by-day this tranquil scene
is repeated on through
time.

But what does all this do me in my dungeon filled with sorrow
as your words come to me in agony
I've found I've let you down
yet again.

Can I not hold your heart without condition placed upon me,
can you never know the joy and beauty of my love?
Why stay in those sad dreams written
by your pen?

Backdrop mountains guard your heart, battlements wide and high
whose gums stand guard along your mountains brow,
is never to be crossed nor broken by this
foolish man.

So I am sitting on this creek bank hiding from the truth
the truth placed here for all to see and read
I hang my head in sorrow and cry
once again.
