DOUBLE LUNG TRANSPLANT
Waiting for the call.
Cleansed my soul, its been bared and scrubbed
Cleansed my body, its been bared and scrubbed
Waiting for the call.
Trying to tread water in the dark,
I am scared. The world will still go on without me
I am aware. The world will still go on without me
I am waiting for the call
I have been deteriorating. This is the only solution
I live in hope. It’s just round the corner
I live in myself. It’s just a safer way to be.
Been telling friends I love them, just in case.
Can’t bear to get to close. Too painful
Can’t bear to go to far. Too Painful
Waiting for the call.
Friends will still go on with me
Friends will still go on without me
When it comes I will be a rush of blue light
When it comes I will leave into the night.
I live in the twilight zone
I am not really at home
Waiting for the call.
I was a person perhaps I wasn’t always the best.
Now I see what is really important, who cares about people’s “problems”?
Not me. I want to shout at them, moaning about the weather
Not me. I want to shout at them, no Valentine for Katie.
People are so shallow
Do they know?
Waiting for the call
Their tea’s not on the table, someone shouted a racist comment at you?
Is that all you’ve got to worry about?
Is that all you’ve got to protest about?
One day soon I will be able to be ME as I was
One day soon I will be able to relax.
Waiting for the call.
If I am one of the lucky 50 per cent who survives
Soon there will be no more waiting.
God and the surgeons take it out of my hands
God knows how I will live my next reincarnation
I will remain cleansed
I will remain strong
Looking staring in a misty window
A better face stares back at me and smiles.
Waiting for the call.
