Her Own Private Living Hell

Contributed by kidpoet_213 on Tuesday, 16th March 2004 @ 02:42:24 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

"I will not be afraid of the dark..."
She once promised to herself
As the darkness surrounds her life
And creeps farther in... every single night

She will wait 'til dawn
To evaluate the damage done
As the terrors that rule the night
Have an iron grip on her life

Somehow... she needs to hold on...
But at the same time... to let go...
To feel the light of day flood the darkness surrounding her lost, anguished soul
As the sunlight trickles in... thru the thin cracks left across her heart that won't mend

The beatings... the bruisings... have left their mark... taken their toll
Both verbally and physically... outta control
I've never been through this myself...
I can only imagine her pain... her own private living hell

Time heals all wounds... they say
Though it may take forever... in this case
The wounds are cut too deep... hard to bare
Like they've been cut with razor wire raked across her heart... her soul with no remorse... no care

She has no feelings left anymore...
She numb from all the anguish and pain
It has left her to the point... not a care in her remains

What happens now...?
Where will she go from here?
How does she bare this life of heartache and pain?
It's all so unclear...
When there's no one near to help her regain
The dignity lost thru all the sin and all the shame

She feels... she's been in this life for far too long
And still... this is really where her heart belongs
But suddenly... oh, so... suddenly....
It all explodes again!
Her life gets turned upside down in an instant
Again... and again... and again... the anger grows
And again... the angry blows... they come... they go
Leaving a huge void inside her soul...
Where love once resided...
Ripped... torn violently away...
As she struggles to cope with her pain

Aching to feel... a loving, tender touch
Yet... somehow... she knows this much...
It's too late...
To ever feel that kind of touch again in her life
She's living on the edge... of what was once her paradise
Scared... barely breathing...
She reaches for the long, sharp knife
As she struggling to live in her own private living hell...
Just a stone's throw away... from that sweet, sweet paradise...
