What poet knows they'd pass
In an elemental class
where you studied poems and verses,
And where ultimately your curses,
Were in screams and yells en masse.
Where when every poet thought,
Where if written would be bought,
Where the teacher sadly vexed,
Cried a bit and then she hexed,
For the class could not be taught.
Now I know this doesn't seem
That you all could fail your dream,
That a critic from a school,
Could label one and all a fool,
Sure lets out a lot of steam.
Don't you worry, It's not true,
Please check spelling when you're thru,
It wouldn't hurt a wit this time
To see if possibly you'd rhyme.
Why risk an F or two.
O.K. I do have a nerve,
My critique, it does not serve,
You've been doing fine without me,
Seems I am a big buttinsky,
I have thrown you all a curve.
Consider this, you keep in sight,
The possibility that I'm right,
You might want to join a contest,
Where you win if you have done best,
Right is right or fly a kite.

You have a point, I see
poor spelling sure grates me
as a teacher I was trained
and these poets have good brains
they should know when to put I before E

lots of hot stale air
take an F from you
that I'll gladly do..
got writers block
put me in a stock
throw some rotted fruit
tally ho and toot toot toot! |

Dear Mr. Buttinsky,
You have thrown no one a curve Mr. Buttinsky,
You see we try very hard, especially me.......
but those little buggers they sneak on by...
even after I've reread it until I can cry......
So Please Mr Buttinsky....overlook mine and I shall yours.......Now let's see what was we
Oh, yes I remember now...my short term memory can take no bow.
I'm so glad we have someone at YPDC to correct us kindly when we could do better....that shows how much you love us Mr. Buttinsky...you can butt into my poem anytime!

Such a great point made here. I never took poetry writing in school. If I did, I'd be better than what I am now. Terrific job. *S* Cynthia |
