Cold Hard Stone

You sat there waiting for me today,
But once again ended up alone.
I didn’t feel the love you offered,
To my heart of cold hard stone.
I walk through my days untouched,
Staring blankly with eyes that can not see.
My ears are filled with the lies of man,
And I can not hear you calling to me.
Day after day you just sit and wait,
With no thought that I might not appear.
Yet still I refuse to meet you there,
My actions guided only by fear.
If I were to stop just for a while,
To sit and share with you my day,
I don’t know what I would do,
Or if I could find the words to say.
Someday I will meet you there,
Then I will no longer be alone,
I will have found that thing I’m seeking,
On a bench of cold hard stone.
