Frozen In Time To Survive

Contributed by maryetta on Monday, 15th March 2004 @ 03:54:21 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

she clings precariously to the post a vacant look in her eyes
her voice sounds a million miles away as she says im falling
i dont know if i can reach her in time as her hand lets go
i grab her robe and she is suspended in mid fall
the heart become frozen in time to survive

these become my nightmares day in and day out all thier lives
ive stopped counting the number of falls ive prevented
the times her legs just give out and i slide her to the floor
and the near misses like above are too manyh to count
the heart becomes frozen in time to survive

these are just some of the nightmares we live with
we never know what they will do or how they will react
its like a haunted house never knowing whats around the corner
your heart lives in your throat all the time
the heart becomes frozen in time to survive

they cant change their ways as they dont ever remember
their mind has been erased they forget when it happens
the ones who suffer are the caregivers we never forget
we live with every memory of everything that transpires
the heart becomes frozen in time to survive

That was a really sad poem, but it opened my eyes and hopefully will continue to do so to everyone who reads this.

I know it must be very hard on you, but hang on, they need you. Very well written of course.
