The smell of the un-dead!

Contributed by deathdrop on Sunday, 14th March 2004 @ 09:22:56 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

nightmares rise from my soul,
visions of fear consume me whole.
"hopeless", joins a category of failure!
frustration, rots into angers curse,
and goes round beating the innocent first!
painless thoughts, are pulled away,
as the devil rises, from the day!
images bring forth, the ruling truth,
wrapping more black darkness, through and through!
more crimson slashes, add to the list,
then more suicides, less by the wrist.
less starving, more slitting of throats,
more murders, or hangings by rope!!
hallucinations, stab you in the back,
but your still full of fear, change you lack!

so one more thing happens to you,
to make you, pure evil to...
you are burned alive,
then crucified!
and as the devil, beats you with joy,
he kisses you, so you can never DIE!

As I lay me down to sleep, I wonder who gets my soul to keep? l
ol~ i like it! My favourite line is the first- 'Nightmares rise from my soul'. It's catchy and grabs people's attention.
Good job!

This poem reminds me of how I fear death. Although I am of Christian faith, I don't believe in organized religion and I don't believe everything that most Christians do. I'm not really sure what it is that I believe, but I'm young yet, so I figure I've got time to decide on those sorts of things.
Back on the subject of the poem:
I really like it. It's very easy to follow in that it flows well. It's a grippingly dramatic poem. Well done and nicely written.
