Have you ever sat by a phone
Hoping it’d ring
Waiting for heartbreak
And all the pain it brings
Have you ever waited for a girl
To say the word
So you listened and you listened
But you never heard
Have you ever wanted to wake up
From a bad dream
But eventually you realized
You were living the real thing
Have you ever wanted to hold a girl soo tight
But no matter what
Things never work out right
Have you ever felt love in your heart
But try as you must
You and your girl
Never had a start
Have you ever cried
As the rain fell down
Because the one you love
Ain’t around
Have you ever hoped for a happy ending
But everything that happens
Is different from in the beginning
Have you ever closed your eyes
To try to sleep
But when you do
You start to weep
Have you ever just lied in your bed
Listening for a voice
But nothing was said
Have you ever gotten on your knees
To start to pray
And suddenly you realized
There’s only one way
Have you ever been so broken
Over thoughts you had spoken
That you couldn’t go on
And you lacked the strength
To face the next dawn
Have you ever seen
The collapse of your world
All because of one simple girl
Have you ever gotten that call
That lifted your soul
And heard those words
That made you whole
Have you ever understood
That there’s a purpose for everything
And the life your living
Is the best you’ve ever seen
Have you ever realized
The best way to show devotion
Is to take the steps
In slow motion
Have you ever known
That your greatest victory
Comes from complete surrender
But only when you give your soul
To the ultimate heart mender
Have you ever realized
That there’s a master plan
It’s expertly perfected
By the masters hand
