SET SAIL UPON LIFES SEA~~~~~~~~~~~

Contributed by lovingcritters on Saturday, 13th March 2004 @ 09:47:37 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

"SET SAIL UPON LIFE"S SEA"

Portals of birth, set sail upon life's sea.
Who is prepared to sail our ships? Not we!
Full Sail Ahead! We're young, 'tis lots of fun.....
Inexperienced, unskillful, hoist the sails, action!

Whirling winds whisk us along, willingly.
Smoothly 'til someone takes the wind
from our sails sharply!
Shaping our character, will we strengthen?
Endure, steady as she goes, or weaken, before our foes?

Learning to know when to lower the sails.
The directions of the wind and when it fails?
All of these lessons take years to learn.
Will we know when to ask for help, to discern?

Now bring on the brew, your own crew.
Sail safely, lovingly, kindly, n'er undue.
When horrible storms threaten your ship....
Have the determination, tenacity, when
wild winds your sail's whip?

Will you take to a Lifeboat, abandon your vessel?
"Protect your crew, in troubled water's wrestle?
Life's waters are choppy, unpredictable, wind's blast!
Takes much strength to climb high
releasing topsail's mass!

With each high wave we encounter, save........
Prepares us for a more powerful, higher one, to be brave!!!
At the end of our sail, are we still "Captain's Aboard?
Have we left behind and implored a fine record?

Sail into the sun, and watch it slowly set, slide down.
Have you been a good sailor, helped others all 'round?
Then sail on my Captain, until your ship is safely in port.
You rose above the waves, and faced wind's rage,
Welcome to your well deserved seaport!

"My thanks goes to Norm
for his help on the
teminology of this poem.
"For he's a jolly good Sailor!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines, Sail away from the safe
harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore! Dream! Discover!!"
~Mark Twain~
"Oh yes, one more thing....
Please let me know when you go,
so I too, can sail along!"
*Smiling Sails*
How could I not love the Critters' writing?
All the facts that are written here
Are strictly on the money,
One time your trip is very rough
the next time it is sunny.
Prevail is the word
Okay this is my new favorite by you! You know it had so much meaning to me. It was filled with wisdom regarding life and I am a sailor at heart. I've always wanted to spend a summer upon the sea. What Mark Twain said I believe is very true. Thank you so much ConSue for this one you just made my day. Kie
