The Truth, I Know

Contributed by Dark_Mistress on Saturday, 13th March 2004 @ 07:25:29 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Surrounded by friends, and yet alone-
They just don’t get what’s going on
With me- can’t they see?
If they opened their eyes, it’d be easy.
They can’t see… me.
I love him, I do.
But they have absolutely no clue
Just how far my feelings go
For him- I dare not let it show
For fear of ridicule- do I want to be alone?
I don’t care about other’s judgments,
But they are my friends, and their opinions matter,
They do.
Like in my story, if only he and I were Meant To Be,
They wouldn’t have such a hard time seeing
Just how deeply I feel for him.

Surrounded by no one, I will be alone.
If I tell them what is going on
With me- they’ll see.
With their closed minds, it’ll happen fast.
They’ll see… me.
I love him, I do.
This I swear is true.
They’ll find out just how far I have fallen
For him- I dared to let it show.
Now the feared ridicule comes, and I am alone.
Although I don’t care about other’s judgments,
I care about my friend’s opinions- they matter,
And to me, they do too.
However, he and I are not Meant To Be
Now they all judge and stab and call me crazy.
They say I am a fool for loving him so.

That is the way it’ll be, I Know.
If I tell them, it will be so.
Never must they find out about my feelings-
They are all that is left that is so good and pure.
If discovered, they will be tainted by their contempt.
Sometimes I wish it wasn’t so.
I hate being tempted with something I can never have.
Closed minded, closed hearted-
They will make my life a living hell.
But I cannot help it- I am under a spell-
The one he cast on me when I first laid eyes on him.
But as in a fairy tale, it is not as easy -
Never will we Live Happily Ever After.
That is why I can never let it show.
This is the Truth, I Know.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
