The Prayer of Broken Heart

The Prayer of a Broken Heart

Lord, it was you who said
That it was not good for a man to be alone
And indeed you were true to your word.

For you gave me someone to be with,
To talk with, to laugh with, and even to cry with.
In others words, you gave me some one to love
And someone who would love me back.

I have only one question, O Lord.
Why is it that when I was getting
So used to being with her
That toy decided to take her away?
You left my heart broken, empty, and hurting so bad.

My child, your heart needs to break
Before you can truly love.
You say that you love her and rightly so,
Because I gave her to you,
And she secretly loved you too.

You were happy together
And when apart you both cried.
Yes. I saw each tar fall from your eyes.
I wanted you to know for sure
That she was the one whom I intended for you.

So when the time comes
That I give her back to you, promise me this:
That you will love her with all your heart
And that you will love her for all times.

I promise.

Beautiful poem about such a terrible thing. Seems pain brings beautiful poetry because then it can truly be written from the heart. I have suffered alot of loss within the past year and my heart has broken a many a times because of it. I know what you are going through and often I have asked why and I have even had times where I was angry about it but my faith in GOD always gets me through and I am thankful GOD loves me and doesnt leave us even when we ask why or get angry. Keep writting!

This brought tears to my eyes. It is so hard when you lose someone and are forced to ask the question--"Why?" I believe this is the first poem I have read of yours and I loved it! Kie
