"A PRETTY FACE"
Beauteous budding, new and fresh
Petals carefully, evenly placed.
Vibrant, smooth, newborn flesh.
Time's not there, nor wilting phased.
Turning toward the sun's brilliant face.
Absorbing warm rays, shining grace.
Ah......a pretty face n'er last to view,
A pretty face we bid you adieu.
Deeper still each petal as they fall.....
Blossom fades, upon earth's scrawl
Casting each petal within life's stream.....
A face of beauty now a dreamt dream.
Slowly petals, unlikely all well cast.
Look beyond pretty face unsurpassed....
A pretty face, n'er endure nor last,
Fragrance remains still, yesterday's past.
Who could she be? The face a blur,
She used to have a pretty face, you know her?
'Neath her chest, buried heart 'twas naught
Her heart's replaced pretty face they sought.
"My one regret as I grew old
No one knew me unless they were told?
Like petals from a withered sunflower fly,
No one's heart seen, for pretty petals deny!"

Consue,
He sees our hearts. I think of that often. He's not looking at the hair, the makeup, but at the heart. This is lovely.

This poem has so much meaning to me. If everyone looked into someones heart and not at their face and form this world would be different I think. No matter how pretty you are physically it is just like viewing a piece of art. It is what is inside that makes a person really beautiful. Depth, emotion, caring, consideration, kindness that is beauty. Loved your poem. Kie |

Beautifully penned expose of the supremacy of the qualities of the human heart.
Of course the wrinkled face of an old person can have its beauty too if understood.
But the deceptive and ephemeral charm of "prettyness" of youth and the fallig petals are crying out for 'M O R E". for something endurig.
Ver lovely poem - full of wisdom
Love and peace

Ah, yes, outer beauty does fade with the years. Inner beauty, like fine wine, only gets better and more radiant with age. It is sad that society places such importance on things that do not last, instead of building on the real things that matter in life. Not just fleeting beauty. This was written beautifully, my dear dear friend.
