Soaring high on wings of beauty
The eagle of purest white
Shimmers against a background of cloudless blue.
Riding thermals, catching drafts
No obligations to fufill
No appointments left to keep, save one.
With feathers making slight adjustments
Every movement graceful, quick
Searching for a meaning in the misery below.
Flying over lands of green
No hint of fear of any other
Drifting into merciful stratosphere above.
Only those with a great fortune
Can hope to catch a glimpse
Divine beauty riding winds of hate.
Once was the sky a cloudless blue
It stirs to morph to crimson red
Clouds of deepest black draw near to him.
Conjured from nothingness
The new storm brews in anger
Winds blow their fury within the sky.
Among the chaos--the storm of rage
The Eagle perserveres anew
Feathers ruffled by passing wind, but not displaced.
Amidst it all, the vicious flight of wills
The Eagle's strength fails as height is lost
Falling faster to meet the unforgiving world below.
Gathering speed and graven fear
Eyes dart quickly from side to side
To search the great expanse of endless dark.
Seeking rescue from certain ends
Silent prayers beg for mercy
Frightened of uncertain future fast becoming now.
What was once a featureless land
Is quickly changing, drastic difference
What was once beauty radiates destruction.
As the edges start to sharpen
And the true face of earth is beared
The Eagle stares and comprehends demise.
Demise returns the gaze of death
Eagle's pulse begins to race
As the Eagle's tragic fate is realized.
The seas begin to rise
And the winds reign ruthlessly
The sky boils the deepest black--enveloping all life.
As the last remaining trace of beauty meets its end.
