Four Legged Hairy Family

Contributed by Whisper on Wednesday, 10th March 2004 @ 10:05:55 PM in AEST
Topic: PetPoems

As I sat and watched my three Toms all sleeping together.
One Orange,.one Black , the other a Gray striped Tabby.
With unusual names like
O Jay, Ozzie Mon and Butter Butts.

Two are about the same age ,give or take a few .
But Butts is older and wiser of the two.
Ozzie is just a "Young in"
And O Jay 's between
Butts still dreams of being a Kitten
Even though his old bones tell him different.

They get along as well as can be expected
Its more like a little four legged, hairy family.
Who I share this space and time.
They are there own folk

They will come if they need ya
They will talk all night if you'll let them
They just ask that you care and fed em
and they 'll stick around.

Sometimes I wish I was a Katt
I would have life so easy
Just find a family with a whole lot of Love
And who don't mind spending a little money .
I'd Purr my way into their hearts and be set the end of my life.

But a Katts Life is just that
Sleeping and eatting ,Hairballs and trees
But What are they thinking, I wonder.
Do they wish that they were really me?

I think that in your "usual off the cuff way" you have got cats exactly right. We have only one cat Sophie....................she was dumped by some calous basta-d on one of our tall gateposts when she was a little kitten.

She's now 12-13 and I've got to know her very well. To the point of understanding her simple needs.

On entering a room where she is ensconced
on a chair.........a very slow blink means......
"Everythings cool man.....take a seat an chill out............" Reply.... slow blink back....This also works the other way round if she comes in and you don't want her to jump up on your knee.

"Grooooo, rolling on her back and pawing the air" means "aint life just greatt..... Good to see you............"

Chriiiisssss Arrow Hisssass.......meaning ."PUT THAT NOSE 1" nearer that cat flap to come in and it will be the last move you ever make......................"
Reserved for the Tom cat from diagonally opposite who never gives up trying it on

"Mew"..... pay attention, I've just woke up!"
"Miaow".....you are not paying attention............
Miiiaaaoooww, accompanied by scratching the back of a chair......Feed me or else!

"Crrrsnifflecrrrrrrsnifflecrrrrrrrchewchew waggle whiskers to distribute bits of food all over the floor".......................".......about time why do you always keep me waiting?2

"new.........new new (very nasal)................ I'm comming up on the bed for a cuddle......

"Werieriwow........" It's *****-ng down and I can't go out!"

It's going to take too long to do them all

I enjoyed your poem immensely
