the darkness creeps up behind me,
threatening me.
it grabs my spine,
shaking my nerves.
let me go beast,
let me go home.
i run,
escaping a fate worse than death,
being slave to the darkness.
i run,
home is in my sights.
within an instant,
i'm on the ground,
being dragged to a lair,
dragged like an animal.
safety wasn't for me.

This is really good, Mark. I don't know what beasts hunt you, but many times I have felt like mine kidnapped me within an eye's glance of home. And that safety is all we really desire, but the darkness is always waiting... great piece!!!! -jason |
