Kind Stranger

Standing alone on a city street
With a sunken soul and my heart in my eyes
A kind stranger approached
Tender demeanor, soft face
His only question, his gently spoken words to me
"Is it that bad, child?"
A large black hand enveloped my small white one
He only had to look in my eyes to know that it was
Struggling to get past the lump in my throat, I could only nod
He didn't try to fluff off my pain, to offer condolances or to give me the famous line "It's in God's hands."
All he did was hold my hand, gaze into my eyes and show me that I wasn't alone in this world
Kindness soothed pain
Black reached out to white
Heart touched soul.
For this small measure of kindness I am grateful.

Tanna, that was beautiful, I'd call it a poem, you're thoughts and emotions were alive, |

This is a really good 'poem'. The kindness of strangers is an important thing today since you don't find it that often. I must add a note here...That all too often used saying "It's in God's hands"...well, it's true. I know on our roughest days it's easy to lose sight of that. And just knowing it doesn't help the pain at the time...Just remember to not forget it :) |
