Love Is Quicksand

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Friday, 13th September 2002 @ 01:18:30 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I opened a box that just snapped shut on my fingers
Sometimes the things you do come back
To bite you on the a** off track
Just when I thought I had left my past behind me for good
It all comes back out of nowhere
Watching me sweat, takes a seat there
I'm faced head on with the things I did that are called "wrong"
That's what happens when you ignore
Your head and follow your heart's core
I am sorry, but what you feel is not all my fault
I'm not the only one he used
I'm not the one you should accuse
It was already broken by the time I walked in
You weren't alone in loving him
But he chose to act on a whim
You've got to accept the things you've been handed by Fate
Hate me if you want but realize
It's his problem he strays and lies
It's just another fix I've gotten myself into
This is what happens when you fall
Into things you can't stop at all
This is why I was and am scared to fall into love
Coz love just never goes as planned
It sucks you in like it's quicksand
Sometimes you end up in situations just like this
And it's the only place you go
They flee and leave you with a foe
Yours isn't the only heart he broke, but let me say
I hope he learns to love someday
It's a grand thing when you just stay
