A Wisp of Death

Contributed by TheDerangedCivilian on Tuesday, 9th March 2004 @ 12:10:52 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

The silver needle pushes through
She slips into a drowsy state

A blotch of black ink clouds her mind
Swirling tendrils of darkness sweep her up

Cradling her gently
Envelopping her slowly
Cloaking her limp corpse

Until
She drops into a dreamless sleep
From which
She will never wake

Her mouth stays opened
She draws her last breath
The one syllable word she tries to utter
Ready on her tongue
Sticks to her mouth

A crackling sound that protrudes
Is extinguished

Her voice
Put out
Never
to be heard
Again
