I'm Yours for the Asking

Contributed by norm on Tuesday, 9th March 2004 @ 10:07:10 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

I looked into the mirror and I saw me looking slack,
I didn't like the way I looked, I looked just like a sack,
With eyes of rheum, and cheeks like doom, I'd like to send me back,
But nowhere was a label, the return code, it did lack.

I guess I'll keep the package, I'm the one and only gee,
There are those who just might argue that I aught to put to sea,
For the ocean wide is a place to hide the ugly guys like me,
The fish don't care and they're unaware how ugly I can be.

There must be one who could call me, hon, and who wouldn't give a fig,
Who could spend her time making gin and lime and dancing up a jig,
Who could look at me with a certain glee even tho I looked a pig,
With dreamy eyes she could idolize as she puffed upon a cig.

I would cut my curl if there were a girl and I'd love her thru and thru,
I would bring to her, I would sing to her, all the songs from Desilu,
And the world of bop, we could lindy hop until our faces blue,
And we'd stop and sit and I'd then commit until she finally knew.

You look around, if you haven't found a guy with certain charm,
There's always me if you can see without you show alarm,
We'll hitch our Buick to a star and buy a Guernsey farm,
And feed the babies of the world and do no one a harm
