No More

Contributed by thumper on Tuesday, 9th March 2004 @ 08:48:09 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I will give no more of my heart
For there's nothing left to give
I've given it out to all that I've known
And barely have enough left to live

I'm filling in all the space
Where my heart did once reside
With sticks and stones and little bones
I've naught left but my pride

I used to believe in fairy tales
Where they all lived happily ever after
My God! What a rube! What an ignorant boob!
The phrase now fills me with laughter

I'll steel up my will. I've had my fill
Of this nonsense emotion called love
It's fiction, you see. It just has to be
For I've never recieved any to speak of.

A powerful picture of a disillusioned person. Whose faith in hope and love has reached a conclusion. Nice...welcome to the collective of reality's bitter truths...

Welcome to the world of lost love and the realization 'love is a myth'. LOL. This is a good write. Welcome also to YPDC. You will find a lot of really nice people here.

Real emotion, real write, it's good, i am sort of starting to think YPDC isn't what it is known to be, i find somewhat discrimination and such, anyways best of luck to you if you are still an active user

Love is over rated. Sure it makes you feel happy and so on but for how long, it makes you feel like youve taken a step forward when actually you discover, when the happy feeling is gone, that you've taken two back. You've obviuosly been hurt, i hope you find some one who will treat you as you treat them. (assuming you love uncondisionally and are as loyal as a doggy etc..) Great poem. Very well written. I hope you find the happy ending you once believed in...

A nice first post. Ah, but love does exist... it just leaves for a time so we can see what the world is without it.
Take care.
David
