A Soldier

Contributed by Waynster on Monday, 8th March 2004 @ 01:58:30 PM in AEST
Topic: war

A soldier
A man trained to kill
Some of the things they learn
are not an ordinary skill

made to be common
as the man by his side
There is one thing they know
That in each other they can confide

I’ll watch your back
And you’ll watch mine
It’s a creed that is chosen
When a man signs on the line

Trained to fight
And be a protector of our land
Trained in combat
Hand and hand

The skills that are learned
Forever in a soldiers head
The chills that are churned
From seeing so many dead

Protecting innocent families
from the enemies of their state
Then leaving them behind
Not knowing of their fate

Being a soldier
Means being molded into one
Once your form is finished
Placed in your hands is a gun

Preferred name is weapon
A thing that can surely kill
When a soldier puts it to use
The sound gives you a chill

Wearing different colors
Usually of brown, black or green
The soldiers that wear them
Down deep can be fierce and mean

Before we fight
Or sent off to a foreign land
Our mission being processed
must have a valid plan

Going before congress
And being signed by the man
Were helping to many others
To fight amongst there own clan

Brothers by my side
Have laid their lives to rest
Knowing they have died
Giving their very best

Machines we are
Taught only by the best
Not long after we get home
Were on another quest
