Am I Dreaming This Scenario

Contributed by maryetta on Monday, 8th March 2004 @ 07:02:05 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

she comes at night stands at my door calls my name
i always feel this to be a dream till i awaken
then she starts asking is it time to get up yet
she stands there amazed as i pound my pillow
am i dreaming this scenario or is it real

i pour her cup and my cup of our morning coffee
she compliments my coffee then before my second sip
she asks is there more coffee im not even halfway done
she stares at me as i bang my head on my desk
am i dreaming this scenario or is it real

she has been falling lately so i get her a potty chair
the first night i hear the shuffle to the bathroom
she informs me she wont use it cause shell have to empty it
she shakes her head at me as i bang mine against the wall
am i dreaming this scenario or is it real

i go from one secnario to another i know there is logic
i know there is also humor somewhere but not at the time
someone once told me it was because she knew where all
my buttons were i say who was the wiseguy who told her
am i dreaming this scenario or is it real

This is heartfelt and heart rending.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
