Shall I declare thee the sun and light of day?
Dare I compare thy grace to serenest nights of May?
Shakespeare didst bestow on his love such laudation;
O what grander works might he writ with thee for inspiration!
'Twould be a travesty to compare thee to a fleeting night or day,
For thine elegance is timeless, beyond measure or mainstay.
O Bethany, endeared one, dost thou doubt my devotion aught?
Hearken unto my vision true, and may all mistrust be naught.
My beloved Bethany, I dreamt thee in satin and lace:
'Twas a zephyrous night; moonlight shown upon thy face.
We strolled hand in hand by a seashore picturesque,
As the jealous Tides lapped at our footprints arabesque.
The heavens were indigo, clear as a pristine pond;
I peered wistfully to the horizon where heaven and sea bond.
The Wind whispered wisps of thine exquisite floral scent;
Thou clasped my hand to thy breast and thine ardor didst vent.
I drew thee to my bosom and softly murmured in thy ear,
"Bethany, heart of my heart, I swear forever to thee here."
On bended knee, I swore to bename a star after my true love;
But, as I turned heavenward, I found nary a one was above.
"Orion, Ursa Minor?" cried I aloud,
"Where art thou, legends celestial and proud?"
Then ye gazed down upon me in thy flowing, silken vesture,
And beckoned me to thyself with a whimsical gesture.
Mine eyes met thine, and I beheld a great wonder!
I fell in rapt before thee, my composure rent asunder!
For captive in thy pupils wert the stars of evening skies!
Yea, numberless Constellations danced splendent in thine eyes!
But, before I could ponder this or inquire of thee how,
I awoke with racing heart and sweat-beaded brow.
Enamored and enraptured, I longed for thine embrace;
My beloved Bethany, I dreamt thee in satin and lace!

Do you post this stuff up hear to get people to tell you it's good? Because it's working. You are DAMN good. I'm not sure ol' Bethany would understand words like arabesque and vesture, but to one who knows the capability and mastery is mind-boggling. Do yourself a favor and put this in a book--you could be making millions off of the stuff you write, if you aren't already.
Oh yeah. Post more.
"The clouds embody dreams so dear--in bolts of doubt and acrid tears."

Well, well - I thought you'd never return! Welcome back - and welcome you are, for this latest piece (whilst not of genre) is as irradiant a work as I had expected.
"O what grander works might he writ with thee for inspiration!"
lol. Classic line.
Thanks for sharing this - and please show us more in the near future! |

Okay, this is not fair. No professionals allowed! Seriously, this reads as if it were pulled from Shakespeare's archives. It all falls into place, with your words, the immaculate flow, that classic style I love so much...this is the very definiton of poetry.
"For captive in thy pupils wert the stars of evening skies!
Yea, numberless Constellations danced splendent in thine eyes!"
Gah, where'd you get THAT from! That one line surpasses 99% of the rest of what I read! So, on a scale of five, this gets....a 14!
Truly,
-V.S.

all I can say is WOW I think u are about 10 levels above my IQ. This in itself was amazing although the long words, most of which I didn't understand, made it a particularly difficult read, which is good at times so u don't breeze through everything. In any case I didn't like your allusion to Shakespeare's poem although u took that and turned it into something AMAZING which definitely is admirable. Anyway I'll quit boring you and tell u post more. :)
