The Fourth Rose

Contributed by kidpoet_213 on Friday, 5th March 2004 @ 11:29:39 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

On my Birthday this year...
I received three gifts...
All as special as those who had given them

Three single roses were given to me
Given with love from the heart...
One single rose from each niece

Amanda's rose was a red rose bud
So beautiful... ah... it was
The deepest shade of red... I had ever seen
It was given with such love from her heart to me

Jennifer's rose was a yellow rose
So beautiful... it stood so straight... so tall
It, too, was given with love for her "Aunt Don Don"

Kayliegh's rose was a pink rose
So beautiful it has stayed
But I know that in time, it , too, will die
It's just an inevitable thing
And it, too, was given with love from her heart to mine

The fourth rose...?
I would love to receive...
From a very special niece...
I'm sure when she finds the time and can...
She'll buy me that single rose... my heart imagines
It will be as beautiful as she ...
And will be given with more love than my heart can ever fathom

What a beautifully touching poem. Isn't it sad their beauty can't last forever. But it will in your mind. The fourth rose I feel will come. This is an excellent piece of work.

rainbows,
Rita
