Promises

Of you I ask one thing,
if you are going to stay.
Please take heed to melancholy words.
Listen to what I say.
I want no more words to hear,
for all your words are lies.
I want no more uterring rhymes,
for that is your disguise.
For you every word is a promise,
of something deep and true.
But the promises get lost on drifting sands,
and you bid them adieu.
So here is what I ask.
I want to hear "I promise" no more.
Too hard? Then I bid you go to hell,
and just walk out the door.
Silence should be destiny,
when promises are all you know.
You promises are nothing more then lies,
tied together by a pretty pink bow.
Last night I had a dream.
It gave me the courage to proceed.
It made me remember all the tears,
when your promises I believed.
And there you go again,
talking in "promise mode."
I will not listen anymore,
for heartache won't be bestowed.
So take your promises and leave.
I have no more regrets.
No need to utter final goodbye's.
Now, to you, I am deaf.
